Milkyweb Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Milkyweb Inc. ("Milkyweb," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information through the Milkyweb mobile app for drivers (iOS and Android package/bundle ID com.mlkwb.app, version 1.1.0 and later releases of the same app) (the "App").

1. Who this applies to

The App is a work tool for truck drivers. Milkyweb provides it to the logistics companies that use the Milkyweb platform, and each of those companies gives the App to the drivers who work for it, as employees or contractors. In this policy, "your company" means the company that gave you access to the App. There is no public sign-up: your company creates your account, decides which of its forms and fields you see in the App, and administers your access. This Privacy Policy covers the App itself; it does not cover your company's own systems, or Milkyweb's other products and websites.

Your company may also make its own decisions about your data (for example, whether your location is shared with its customers for shipment tracking, described below). It may act as an independent controller of some of this information, so you may also need to contact it about how it uses your data.

2. Who we are

Milkyweb Inc.
1259 El Camino Real #1300
Menlo Park, CA 94025
United States
Email: support@milkyweb.net

Milkyweb Inc. is the developer of the App and, for the purposes described in this policy, the data controller for the personal data the App sends to our servers.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Sign-in information

To sign in, you enter your phone number. We send a one-time verification code to that number by SMS, using Amazon SNS. We use your phone number to identify your account and let you sign in; we do not use it for marketing.

3.2 Location information

The App can collect your device's precise location in two ways:

  • One-time location. When you tap "Send my location" on a form, the App captures your current precise location once and attaches it to that record.
  • Continuous location sharing (including in the background). If you turn on location sharing for order tracking, the App keeps sending your precise location periodically — about every 4 minutes, though your company can configure a different interval — for as long as sharing is turned on. This continues while the App is in the background, and can continue after the App is closed, until you turn location sharing off or sign out. On Android, sharing continues after the App is closed. On iPhone, it continues after the App is closed if you allow location access "Always"; with "While Using the App", it pauses when the App is closed and resumes when you open it. While continuous sharing is active, Android shows a persistent notification, and iOS shows the system location indicator, so you always have a visible sign that your location is being sent.

Location data collected this way is visible to your company's dispatchers, and — depending on how your company has configured the Milkyweb platform — may also be visible to its customers, for shipment-tracking purposes.

Location permission is optional. If you decline it, or turn continuous sharing off, the rest of the App still works; only the "send my location" and continuous location-sharing features are disabled.

3.3 Photos

You can pick photos from your device's photo library to attach to a record (for example, a Bill of Lading or Proof of Delivery). The App converts the photo to JPEG on your device, then uploads it to Milkyweb's servers, where it is stored using Amazon Web Services (S3). The App does not use your device's camera directly to take these photos, and does not access your microphone.

3.4 Form content

The App sends the information you type or select into your company's forms — text, dates, yes/no answers, and order status — to Milkyweb's servers, so your company can see and act on it.

3.5 Push notifications

If you allow push notifications, the App sends a device push token to Milkyweb's servers, so we can deliver notifications to you (for example, about a new or updated order). Notifications are delivered through Expo's push notification service, and, depending on your device, through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) or the Apple Push Notification service (iOS).

3.6 App activity and device diagnostics

To keep the App running and to diagnose problems, we send Milkyweb's servers:

  • When the App is opened or moved to the background, and a periodic "heartbeat" (about every 5 minutes while the App is open);
  • Your device's manufacturer and model, operating system, and the App's version;
  • Your device's time zone;
  • Whether push notifications and location sharing are turned on.

3.7 Crash reports

If the App crashes in a release (production) build, we send a crash report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), including the stack trace, device and operating-system information, the App version, and a session identifier. We use this only to find and fix bugs. We do not send crash reports from development builds.

3.8 What we do not do

  • We do not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs in the App.
  • We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers.
  • The App does not access your camera directly or your microphone, and does not read your contacts.

4. How we use this information

We use the information above to: let you sign in and use the App; send location, photos, and form content to your company so it can run its logistics operations and, where it has turned this on, provide shipment tracking to its customers; deliver push notifications; operate, secure, and troubleshoot the App; and fix bugs and crashes.

5. Who we share information with

  • Your company. The company that gave you access to the App can see the location, photos, and form content associated with your account, through its use of the Milkyweb platform. Depending on how it has configured the platform, its customers may also see your location for shipment-tracking purposes.
  • Service providers who process data on our behalf. We use other companies to help us run the App. They may only use the data we share with them to provide these services to us.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): Hosting our servers; storing photos (S3); sending sign-in SMS codes (Amazon SNS)
  • Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.): Crash reporting
  • Expo: Delivering push notifications
  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: Delivering push notifications on Android
  • Apple Push Notification service: Delivering push notifications on iOS
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Milkyweb, our users, or others.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers, analytics companies, or data brokers.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy — including for as long as needed to support your company's use of the Milkyweb platform — and for longer where required by applicable law. Where data is tied to a contract between Milkyweb and your company, we generally keep it for as long as that contract is in effect. Once it's no longer needed for these purposes and we're not required to keep it, we delete it or make it anonymous.

7. Your choices and rights

Turning location off. You can turn continuous location sharing off in the App at any time. Signing out of the App also stops location sharing and clears the App's local data from your device.

Access, correction, and deletion. You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, by emailing support@milkyweb.net. Because your company creates and administers your account, you can also contact it; it can help with these requests or make them on your behalf. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time. We may keep certain records — for example, where your company needs to retain them for its own logistics or recordkeeping obligations, or where we are required to by law — even after a deletion request.

Other rights. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to: withdraw any consent you've given us, at any time; object to our processing of your data; ask us to restrict how we use it; receive a copy of your data in a portable, machine-readable format; and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Security

All data sent between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS (TLS).

9. Children's privacy

The App is a work tool that companies provide to adult drivers, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through the App.

10. International data transfers

Some of our service providers (see Section 5) operate in the United States and other countries, so your data may be processed outside the country where you live or work.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let your company know.

12. Contact us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, or want to exercise any of the rights described above, email support@milkyweb.net. You can also contact your company, which administers your Milkyweb account.
